The Mud Puddle

Like a magenta sunrise,

this passing moment

can linger a lifetime

without a promise.

Gratitude is the indefinite host

of the Beloved’s caress,

if even brief,

delicate,

surprising.

There is nothing shallow

about waters that

quench the thirst of a longing soul.

Splash barefoot

in that mud puddle,

wholeheartedly.

It is what remains of a brief

interlude between

Heaven and Earth.

In the hours left before

this sunset,

there is ample time

to count everything that

touches you

as a blessing.
