The Cloak of Invisibility

Image: origin unknown

Once upon a time,

while the adult wars raged,

a little boy

found within himself

a cloak of invisibility.

What a discovery!

“To be invisible is to be safe.”

Decades have passed.

Those particular adult wars have stopped.

But the little boy within the man

still wears the cloak.

He’s not yet ready to surrender.

Someone else might wage a war.

Really, they might.

It happens.

**

The Holy Mother grieves,

feeling the absence of her Son,

the Man.

She’s never before cradled a being

so beautiful in his particular way,

And she knows for what he was

conceived ~

He’s to be a great unveiler…

Gifted in the way the wolf is gifted

at unveiling the moon.

Rain falls as tears take the Great Leap from her chin.

Will he show HimSelf?

She prays.

**

I know that cloak.

How you spin sunwise when you

put it on.

How you peek and duck

and peek and duck

at its frayed edges

like a hungry salamander who can’t decide

whether or not it is safe to come out

from under a rock…

But who feels such a strong need

to emerge.

I know you have that hunger!

Oh my friend, I have not lost

sight of you.

When the doubts and fears arise,

Take my hand

and look into my eyes –

See yourSelf the way

I See you.

See you.

You can do this.

You can conceive yourSelf

as who you were born to be.

Only in this, dear Man,

will you unveil

your own true Peace.
